Your Weekend Guide To Bull City & Beyond: December 16th – 18th



Third Friday Durham – Friday, 6-9pm – Various locations host gallery openings, receptions and live music. 5 Points Gallery hosts a public reception for featured artist King Nobuyoshi Godwin, whose autism and synesthesia inform his lively and colorful paintings. Rigsbee Hall hosts a pop-up market featuring seven art, craft and ceramic vendors plus a book signing with author Alivia Moe and live jazz from The Usual Suspects

NCCU Jazz Faculty Holiday Concert – Friday, 7pm – Sharp Nine Gallery hosts this lively performance that includes N.C. Central University faculty, alumni and current students in the Jazz Studies program, alongside NCCU artist-in-residence, pianist and composer Joey Calderazzo. The group will play songs from their latest release, Yule be Swingin’. 

Durham Holiday Parade – Saturday, 10am – Dynamic floats, bands, drill teams, staff and students from local schools, and members of other community groups make their way down Main Street during this spirited parade presented by Durham Parks and Recreation. The event concludes with an appearance by Santa.

3rd Saturday Local Maker + Vintage Market – Saturday, noon-4pm – Durty Bull Brewing Company hosts its monthly market in the parking lot adjacent to the brewery. The market includes work from local artists, makers and vintage sellers, and is accompanied by live music by Mike Hodgdon Music and vegan food truck Meatless Grease.

Holiday Extravaganza at Durham Central Park – Saturday, 2-8pm – Take photos with Santa, enjoy live music, decorate Christmas ornaments, and shop during this holiday vendor market presented by The Glass Jug Beer Lab’s downtown location. The brewery’s beverage trailer will serve hot apple cider, mulled wine and craft beer.

Chanukah at Streets of Southpoint Mall – Sunday, 4:30pm – This outdoor celebration in front of Barnes & Noble includes a variety of activities hosted by Chabad of Chapel Hill and Durham. Take part in children’s crafts, enjoy latkes and donuts, and more. Each child in attendance will receive a special Chanukah gift.
