Bull City BBQ Bash – Saturday, noon-5pm – Mike D’s BBQ presents an afternoon of barbecue, beer and live music at Mike D’s BBQ Supply and General Store on Driver Street. Shop from local vendors, enjoy tunes from Paige King Johnson, and taste and vote on delicious food. Proceeds benefit the Helps Education Fund, a Raleigh-based nonprofit working to advance learning outcomes for disadvantaged K-12 students.
Oktoberfest – Saturday, 2-10pm – The fall celebration returns to Bull McCabe’s Irish Pub. Down some bratwurst and German beer before joining in lively song and dance led by the Mountain Top Polka Band.
A Peachy Labor Day Weekend – Saturday-Monday – The Glass Jug Beer Lab celebrates Labor Day with heaps of peaches. Enjoy a pint of Prairie Artisan Ales’ Peach Crumble Sour, Haw River Farmhouse Ales’ Fuzzy Buttons Peach Witbier, frozen peach ginger beer slushies and other peachy brews, all garnished with a peach slice. The celebration is preceded by The Glass Jug’s monthly comedy showcase – laughs begin Friday at 8pm. The SmokeHouse Bandits BBQ food truck will also be on-site from 5-8pm.
Food Truck Rodeo – Sunday, noon-4pm – Dozens of food trucks and drink vendors convene at Durham Central Park during this quarterly event.
ProgDay Music Festival
The world’s longest-running progressive rock festival returns to Storybook Farm on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend of music will include performances by headlining UK band Nektar, Asheville’s Jon Stickley Trio, ShwizZ and more.
