Family Lake Day: Fishing – Saturday, 9-10am – Durham Parks and Recreation’s Outdoor Recreation Unit hosts a class on fishing fundamentals at Lake Michie Park and Marina. Equipment and bait is provided, and registration is required. Participants younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
ROCKin’ Geology Party – Saturday, 11am-3pm – The North Carolina Geological Survey hosts this second annual event in conjunction with the North Carolina Science Festival. Geologists lead activities for kids of all ages, including rock bingo, geode crafting, earth science walks, a scavenger hunt and more at West Point on the Eno.
Annual Art for All Fundraising Fest – Saturday, noon-5pm – Head to ArtPost at Happymess on Iredell Street to explore the creative makings of 20 vendors, delight in live music, indulge in food truck fare, play in a bouncy house, enjoy art activities, eat from concession stands and take part in a raffle. All proceeds benefit Raleigh nonprofit Art for All NC to help expand the reach of its art education and experiences.
Lower Eno River Discovery Paddle – Saturday, 1-4pm – Explore a section of the Eno River during a guided trip with Two Sisters Adventure Company. Choose a kayak or canoe to paddle down the river and observe an array of amphibians, wading birds and other wildlife that populates this waterway.
Food Truck Rodeo – Saturday, 5:30-9pm – Enjoy live music, beer from Raleigh-based brewery and distillery Lonerider (which will soon open at this location) and a wide variety of food truck cuisine at Borden Brick on Ramseur Street.
Planting Your Summer Garden – Sunday, 1-3:30pm – Join One Soil Farm for a workshop detailing how to select plants and seeds, plan your summer garden, control pests and more tips to maintain a healthy garden. This hands-on workshop is open to all levels of gardeners with ample time for questions and answers. Attendees will go home with tomato plants, seeds and a pest identification card.
