Your Weekend Guide to Bull City & Beyond: April 28th – 30th

Canine Field Day – Saturday, 10am-2pm – Bring your furry friend to participate in a Hyperflite Skyhoundz Classic Qualifiers competition and fun field game activities at Rock Quarry Park. There will be games and activities for all energy levels, including an agility course, 50-yard dash, non-competitive Frisbee catch and ball fetch area, bobbing for treats, a treasure hunt and so much more! Pre-registration is required for each dog competing in the Hyperflite Skyhoundz competition. After your dog is tired from playing games all the fun games, stroll the pet market or get to bite to eat at the food trucks.

International Dance Day 2023 – Saturday, 10am-2pm – Come out to American Dance Festival‘s Scripps Studios for a free dance class with McDaniel Roberts at 11:30am, an ADF merchandise sale, a raffle to win performance tickets and ADF merchandise, a chance to chat with ADF staff about the 2023 season and everything ADF, and coffee! Cloche Coffee will donate 10% of its profits that day to the Tony Johnson Scholarship Fund.

Brightleaf Square Spring Market – Saturday, 11am-3pm – This pop-up market at Brightleaf Square features 24 small businesses at Mill and Meadow plus other Brightleaf Square businesses open for shopping ahead of Mother’s Day and graduation!

Old North Durham Art Walk – Saturday, 11am-4pm – Two dozen residents of the neighborhood, including textile artist River Takada and potter Elizabeth Paley, offer art and artisanal goods for purchase during this event hosted by the Old North Durham Neighborhood Association.

Bull City Beer Mile – Saturday, 2:30-7pm – Bull City Running Co. and The Glass Jug Beer Lab team up to host the second annual beer mile at Durham Central Park. Runners will tackle four quarter-mile laps around the park, each preceded by polishing off a 12-ounce Bull City Beer Mile brew made specifically for the event by The Glass Jug. Runners and spectators can enjoy beverages and food from The Outlaw Pig, Mesas El Salvador and The Blue Window food trucks, and, of course, a variety of Glass Jug brews. The top three individual, four-person relay and two-person relay teams will receive medals with built-in bottle openers.

Beats n Bars Festival – Saturday, 4-9pm – Joshua Gunn headlines the eighth annual event, performing during the It’s a Vibe Fashion Show featuring local youth designers from Durham and Raleigh. The festival, which aims to build stronger communities through the influence of urban culture and music, will include trivia hosted by WUNC‘s Kamaya Truitt and quizmaster Clayton Mack of North Carolina Central University‘s college bowl team, in addition to art, dance and fashion, all at American Tobacco Campus. VIP tickets include bites from ATC restaurants Five Star Restaurant and Boricua Soul. A portion of proceeds will benefit H.E.A.R.T.S., a nonprofit supporting adolescent parents.
