4th of July in the Triangle

The 4th of July in the Triangle will certainly be a little different this year, with many events cancelled due to Covid 19 and the safety of our community.

Fortunately, we live in a creative community with plenty of fun options! So, whether you’re looking to enjoy some time outside (socially distant, of course!) or make the most of time at home, we’ve gathered plenty of local options to make the most of the holiday!

Events

4th of July at The Unscripted Patio

Head to the Patio at the Unscripted Durham for specialty cocktails, popsicles and Chef Xaviar’s ribs with DJ Special K from 12pm-5pm & DJ Josh Prince from 6pm-10pm. Reservations are strongly encouraged.

Kayaking Basics

Learn the basics of kayaking and take in the beauty of the Triangle from the water! Frog Hollow Outdoors is hosting smaller classes to show you the basics or take you on a guided kayak tour!

Independence Day at The Glass Jug Beer Lab’s Beer Garden

Celebrate with The Glass Jug in the beer garden where everyone can maintain appropriate distance and enjoy great beer, delicious food, tropical Italian ice, and watch a movie! Oink N Moo by two brothers will be there serving some delicious smoked BBQ from 5-9 PM and CocoCrissi Tropical Icee will be set up in the beer garden scooping their tropical Italian Ice from 6-9 PM. Sandlot will be shown on the outdoor movie screen starting at 8:15 PM (or as soon as it is dark enough).

Live Music at The Honeysuckle Tea House

Starting at 5 PM, enjoy the outdoors and some live music with local jazz group, Popcorn Blue Band! They will be jamming out on the main stage. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and/or folding chairs to fully enjoy the space. Don’t forget to grab a farm-based beverage, like their sparkling mead When Lemon Met Ginger or Soothing Blooms iced tea!

Fireworks

Benson Fireworks

The Benson fireworks will be shot off from J. Lee Road and will be viewable from mainly locations in Benson. There will be no gathering.

Selma’s Fireworks Show

View the Selma fireworks from your car! The viewing area is in the vicinity of Hwy 70 and Hwy 301.

Holly Springs Fireworks Livestream

Enjoy a Mo’Jazz concert and a livestream of the fireworks show at Sugg Farm!

The Festival of the Eno is sadly cancelled, but there will be a livestream of all the fun!

Food & Fun for At Home

Papa Shogun

Get a delicious picnic basket to go from Papa Shogun in Raleigh and enjoy a picnic at home or in one of the many Triangle parks. The basket for 2 or 4 people includes fried chicken, watermelon salad, corn salad, house-made focaccia and whipped ricotta, mixed pickles, and ricotta cookies with orange and chocolate icing!

N.C. State Fair Food – To Go!

Drive through to get your favorite fair foods! From July 3-5, the North Carolina State Fairgrounds will be open and taking drive-through orders of funnel cakes, cotton candy, deep-fried Oreos and more!
