Your Weekend Guide to Bull City and Beyond: February 25th-28th

Nevermore Film Festival – Friday, Saturday, Sunday; times vary from 2-9:30pm – The 23rd annual juried festival at The Carolina Theatre showcases films from narrative features to shorts that span the spectrum of horror, science fiction, dark fantasy, animation and mystery/thrillers. The program has gained an international reputation as one of the premier genre festivals in the U.S., so order a big tub of popcorn, and enjoy the suspense!

Sunday Winter HikeFanny’s Ford – Sunday 2-4pm – Join the Eno River Association for a two-hour moderate hike that starts at the Fews Ford access point and reaches the home site of Fannie Breeze, a slave to the white Breeze family in the 1800s and a practicing midwife on the Eno River who continued her services to people of all races after emancipation. You may be able to see the daffodils or jonquils that were planted during her time in bloom.

Mardi Gras Party with Live Jazz and Beignets  Sunday, 2-8pm – Kick off the carnival season in classic New Orleans style with craft beers, eats from Mr. A’s Beignets and Mike’s Vegan Cookout food trucks, and live music by jazz artist Shaquim Muldrow at Durty Bull Brewing Company.

Last Friday Art Walk
Join the Hillsborough Arts Council for its monthly community arts event featuring special exhibitions and opening receptions from 6-9 p.m. – plus live music and poetry performances, maker markets and family-friendly activities.

Pinecone Bird Feeders 
Make a traditional pine cone bird feeder using sunflower butter with an Eno River State Park ranger at the Occoneechee Mountain picnic tables. The event runs from 11 a.m.-noon. 

Wizarding World | Fri., Feb. 25 | 6:30-9:30 p.m. | Marbles Kids Museum, 201 E. Hargett St. | $15 | Put on your sorting hat and leave the kids at home for this night of Harry Potter-themed activities and dancing for adults 21+.
