Your Weekend Guide to Bull City and Beyond: May 3rd – 5th, 2024

Pollinator Garden Volunteer Day – Saturday, 9:30-11:30am – Get your hands dirty and show the pollinator garden at The Glass Jug Beer Lab – RTP some love by spreading mulch, pulling weeds and moving plants. Bring a pair of gloves and some garden tools if you have them and work on your green thumb!

Strawberry Festival – Saturday, 11am-3pm – Old North Durham Park has everything you need for a perfect day with the family at this 19th annual festival. Enjoy local food, live entertainment, activity and craft booths for kids, strawberry treats and community vendors, all while raising money for Central Park School for Children.

Durham Garden Tour – Saturday, 11am-4pm – Stop to smell the flowers as you explore 10 unique gardens across Durham with Keep Durham Beautiful. Pick up some inspiration for your own garden from the creative, sustainable designs on the tour. Plus, stop by the ticketed preview party and welcome reception on Friday from 5-7pm at SEEDS, featuring apps, drinks and a sneak peek at the gardens on the tour.

Cinco de Mayo Bar Crawl – Saturday, 3-9pm – Celebrate Cinco de Mayo a day early with a bar crawl through downtown Durham presented by Latin Events in Durham. Start at Pour Taproom and work your way through nearby bars including The SlushThe Velvet Hippo106 MainMissy Lane Assembly Room and Weldon Mills as you celebrate Latin culture and enjoy beer, cocktail and food specials at each location.

Derby Day Party – Saturday, 4-7pm – University Club offers another option for Kentucky Derby festivities with its 11th annual celebration. Enjoy a chef’s selection of food stations, sip on mint juleps, snap a picture in the photo booth, and listen to live bluegrass music while you cheer on your favorite horse.

May the Fourth Be With You – A Photo Booth Pop-up Party – Saturday, 6:30-9:30pm – Come dressed to impress as your favorite “Star Wars” character for this pop-up party at Yours, Durham. Strike a pose in front of movie-themed backdrops, enter a costume contest (with prizes for the winners!), play games, explore art vendors, and watch a screening of “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.”
