Your Weekend Guide to Bull City & Beyond: December 8th – 10th, 2023

Herbal Tea Making Workshop – Saturday, 9am-noon – Create your own herbal tea blend with plants from the Sarah P. Duke Gardens in a workshop led by Duke University undergraduate student Tigerlily Kaynor and Duke Gardens staff educator Kati Henderson. Learn about the plants’ properties, how to harvest them and how to dry herbal tea material. 

Holiday Parade  Saturday, 10am – Kickstart the holiday season with downtown Durham’s holiday parade. Celebrate and show your support for local bands, drill teams, schools and community organizations as they make their way down Main Street. The festivities culminate with a guest appearance from Santa Claus.

Brightleaf Square Holiday Market – Saturday, 10:30am-3pm – Shop gifts, stationery, clothing, candles, jewelry, desserts, coffee and other items from more than 25 local small businesses right along the Durham holiday parade route – grab some treats or a drink from Clouds Brewing while you browse!

Triangle Youth Ballet: The Nutcracker – Saturday, 2pm and 7pm – A cast of more than 100 young ballet dancers take the stage at the Carolina Theatre, performing to music from the Tchaikovsky Virtuosi and conducted by Andrew McAfee.

Viano Quartet – Saturday, 8pm – Duke University’s Baldwin Auditorium hosts this award-winning chamber ensemble with a reputation as one of the most exciting and dynamic young groups on the classical music scene today as a part of Duke Arts Presents’ Chamber Arts Series.

Holiday Cocktail Class – Sunday, 2-4pm – Want to impress your family members this season with unique holiday drinks? Stop by Mystic Farm and Distillery to learn how to make some favorite festive cocktails! The seasonal event will also include a tour of the distillery and free tastings.
