Your Weekend Guide to Bull City & Beyond: February 3rd – 5th

NY Dog Film Festival – Thursday-Sunday, various showings – The Carolina Theatre hosts the seventh annual festival, which features 17 short films from all over the world that celebrate the love between dogs and their people.

Valentine’s Pottery Class – Friday, 7pm; Saturday, 1pm – Bring a loved one along to design, decorate and construct your own mugs during this hand-building pottery workshop hosted by Piedmont ClayWorks at the Outer Loop Arts studio on Ramseur Street. All mugs will be ready to take home in time for Valentine’s day.

The Fruit Flea– Sunday, noon-6pm – Support Durham’s creative community by buying and selling clothes, art materials, vintage goods and more during The Fruit‘s monthly flea market. 

N.C. MLK Black History Month Parade – Saturday, noon-2pm – Spectacular Magazine presents the 20th annual parade, which features marching bands, step and dance teams, floats and more. The parade begins at noon at W.G. Pearson Elementary School, proceeds up Fayetteville Street and ends at North Carolina Central University. Afterward, enjoy a DJ, food trucks, inflatables, face painting, vendors and more at Golden Belt.

Crafting Botanicals with Paper: Carolina Lily
North Carolina Botanical Garden is partnering with artist Cynthia Woodsong for a paper flower crafting workshop from 1:30-4:30 p.m. The workshop will be shaped around Lilium michauxii, otherwise known as the Carolina Lily, North Carolina’s state wildflower. Tickets cost $44 ($40 for members). All materials, tools and other helpful supplies are included.

Winter Wine Walkthrough
Six wine connoisseurs will be on-site at Rocks + Acid Wine Shop to walk you through 25 exquisite wines for the season – inspired by the Rhone Valley, Languedoc, Roussillon and southwestern France – and answer any questions you have about the wide world of wine. The event runs from 2-4 p.m. and admission costs $55.
