Your Weekend Guide to Bull City & Beyond: January 13th – 15th

Durham Fairytale Ball – Saturday, 10am-5:30pm – Dress your little ones in their favorite princess or fairytale costume and attend this day of performances, meet-and-greets, crafts, games and more with Disney favorites like Snow White and Ariel at the Durham Convention Center. Choose from a 10am, noon or 2pm timeslot.

MLK: Remembering the Legacy through the Arts – Saturday, 2-5pm – Durham Parks and Recreation hosts a program commemorating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the W.D. Hill Recreation Center. Activities and events highlighting his life, like visual art displays, open mic poetry, live performances, arts and crafts, and more are free and open to the public.

Food Truck Rodeo and Vendor Market – Saturday, 2-10pm – Enjoy bites from food trucks and live music while shopping from local creatives and businesses. The family-friendly event also includes an adult zone with a cigar lounge and bar at Suite Four

Collective Groove Band – Saturday, 7pm and 9pm – The Durham-based band showcases its invigorating spins to jazz, R&B, neo-soul, pop, classic soul and gospel music during Beyu Caffe’s new weekend supper club – which features chef-inspired cuisine and signature cocktails paired with live music in an intimate setting – with two Saturday showtimes. 

Chocolate and Bourbon Pairing – Sunday, 2-4pm – This class at Mystic Farm and Distillery will explore Mystic bourbons and spirits and the chocolates that pair best with them.

12th Annual Dream Big Book Drive & Celebration – Monday, 1-4pm – Book Harvest‘s MLK Day book drive and community celebration will be indoors and outdoors at Golden Belt Campus with a drive-through option for dropping off book donations. Bring donations of new and gently used children’s books or simply join the celebration – say hello to Wool E. Bull from 1-1:30pm, watch the Bouncing Bulldogs perform their famous jump-rope routine at 1:30pm, and join in the Paperhand Puppet Intervention Parade at 2:30pm. Attendees can also enjoy free popcorn from Mad Popper, activities with the Marbles Kids Museum, poems written in real time by the Poetry Fox, a visit with Man Man the mini horse, and fun games and giveaways. There will also be face painting, woodworking, crafts, a big moving truck to play in and more.
