Triangle Restaurant Week – Thursday-Sunday – Indulge in some of our town’s finest cuisine during this weeklong celebration of local culinary excellence. Participating restaurants – including Pure Vegan Cafe, Mothers & Sons, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, Local 22 Kitchen & Bar, Parizade, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, The Melting Pot, The Restaurant at The Durham, Krill and Vici Ristobar – offer special three-course menus with fixed pricing: $15 for a three-course lunch and $25-$50 for a two- to three-course dinner.
NCCU Vocal Jazz Ensemble – Friday, 6-8pm and 9-10:30pm – The university’s jazz band – fresh off a first place finish at the Jack Rudin Jazz Championship in New York City earlier this month – performs at Beyu Caffe’s new Weekend Supper Club Experience. Enjoy chef-inspired cuisine and signature cocktails at one of two seatings.
NC Rare & Vintage Beer Tasting – Saturday, 2-6pm – Celebrate beer culture and sample something new during this event at the Historic Durham Athletic Park. More than 50 participating breweries offer knowledge and samples of one to four brews each. The event serves to raise funds and awareness for the Michael James Jackson Foundation for Brewing & Distilling.
Fangirl Fantasy Dance Party – Saturday, 8pm – Sing and dance your heart out to top 40 hits and deep cuts from One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer during this party at Motorco Music Hall.
Back to the ’80s – Saturday, 8pm – Join Groovy Tomb Productions for a drag and burlesque tribute to the decade at The Pinhook. Don’t forget to wear your best flashback fits to participate in the ’80s costume contest and enter to win raffles.
Blueberry Pruning Workshop
Learn the ins and outs of pruning a blueberry bush through hands-on experience at Botanist & Barrel. Shape your very own bush while discussing all-things-blueberries with blueberry connoisseur Kether Smith of Cedar Grove Blueberry Farm. Guests must bring their own loppers and gloves for the class at noon.
