Movies by Movers Screenings – Saturday, 2-4:30pm – American Dance Festival‘s free annual film festival returns to Durham County Library, showcasing 20 films made by students and North Carolina filmmakers. The NC Filmmakers series, themed “Gone to Carolina in My Mind,” begins at 2pm, and the student-created shorts, themed “School’s Out for Summer,” begins at 3:30pm.
Taste of Soul NC ‘Youth Entrepreneur’ Edition – Saturday, 3-8pm – Experience the ultimate cookout at Durham Central Park with food and refreshments from vendors including Cilantro, Jay’s Italian Ice, Carolina Moe’s BBQ, Blu Tee Spoon, Tropical Delights and Cinnabon Food Truck NC. The event also features youth merchandise vendors, a bounce house, a DJ and live performances.
Rock the Park Concert & Movie Series – Saturday, 6-8pm – Durham Parks and Recreation presents Earth, Wind & Fire tribute performance by CJ Baker Entertainment at Rock Quarry Park. Food will be available for purchase on-site, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and lawn chairs.
Black Farmers Market – Sunday, 1-4pm – This bimonthly farmers market at Hillside High School features 30-plus Black farmers and artisans, and is meant to inspire a self-sufficient community that supports and protects these vendors. The market is free to all guests and operates rain or shine.
Craftboro Brewing Depot Brewery Tour
Jeffery Allen Howard leads guests on a guided tour of Craftboro Brewing Depot starting at 3:30 p.m. The tour also includes a flight of the depot’s beverages.
Tomato Day
Try a “tomato flight” and sample tomato recipes from James Beard Award-winning chef Ricky Moore during this annual event at the Carrboro Farmers Market from 8:30 a.m.-noon. There will also be live music and a raffle for a chance to win over 20 prizes and gift certificates.
