Your Weekend Guide to Bull City & Beyond: June 14th – 16th, 2024

NC Juneteenth – Friday, 1-8pm – This 19th annual celebration at North Carolina Central University, presented by Spectacular Magazine and Triangle Cultural Awareness Foundation, commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S. Enjoy fare from food trucks on-site; listen to live music; visit exhibitor booths; shop from vendors selling an array of African and African American clothing, art and artifacts; visit the health fair; and bring the little ones to the kids zone!

Two Durhams Beer Festival – Friday, 5-9pm – The Durham, UK Committee of Sister Cities of Durham presents this festival of local and international brews at Durham Central Park. Participating North Carolina breweries include Bull City Burger and BreweryFullsteamThe Glass Jug Beer Lab and Ponysaurus Brewing Co. The festival also features a number of UK-based breweries, including Yard of Ale Brewery and Caps Off Brewery. Plus, choose from an array of food trucks – including Ama’Gees Jamaican Cuisine – to accompany your beverages, and listen to live music from String Break Band.

Family Karaoke Night – Friday, 6-8pm – Celebrate love, diversity and family at The Pinhook’s Pride karaoke night, presented in partnership with Total Koality Babysitting Service. Sing your favorite Disney songs, snap a selfie, enjoy nonalcoholic beverages and bring out your inner creativity with arts and crafts. Every family will receive a goodie bag and a complimentary one-hour babysitting voucher. 

It’s Funny, Y’all! – Friday, 8pm – Head to the Carolina Theatre’s Fletcher Hall and experience a hilarious romp through Southern heritage with star Vivica C. Coxx and family. Co-host Stormie Daie presents special performances from Naomi Dix and Spray and the Jays as well as comedy and drag from special guests Kb2funny and Pressure K Friday. 

Latin Dance Party – Friday, 9pm-midnight – The Fruit plays host to a special American Dance Festival event with the dancers of Ballet Hispánico and the rhythms of Latin America. Instructors will teach you the basics of favorites like salsa, merengue and bachata – take the opportunity to dance like nobody is watching while enjoying a cash bar and various food trucks on site. 

Daddy Daughter Sneaker Brunch – Saturday, 11am-1:30pm – Rock your best sneakers and bring your loved ones to Hoop State Elite’s brunch at Durham Technical Community College. The fun-filled event celebrates the special bond between fathers and daughters, provides a dance floor to create new memories as well as plenty of food, laughter and connection.
