Hunt for the Golden Bulls – Through March 31 – Bull City Burger and Brewery began releasing clues for its 13th annual scavenger hunt inspired by the golden tickets from the film “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” Throughout the month, clues and puzzles will be revealed on social media and online. The clues, once deciphered, lead participants to public spaces around Durham where a golden bull has been carefully hidden. Winners of each of the five Golden Bulls receive a free pasture-raised beef burger or veggie burger, fries and a drink each week for a year. Teams are encouraged to participate, but only one member of each team can redeem a Golden Bull.
Spring Fan Fest – Saturday, 5-7:30pm – Durham Bulls host this free event at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park for fans to get a chance to play catch on the field (baseballs and gloves not provided, must bring own) to kick off the 2023 season. Kids in attendance age 12 and younger will be able to take batting practice on the field until 7pm. Adults who are currently 919 Club Members or become a 919 Club Member during the event will also have the chance to take batting practice for the final half hour of the event until 7:30pm. All batting practice participants will be limited to three-five pitches and must have a waiver filled out in order to participate. The Bulls’ most recent championship trophies from their 2022 International League and Triple-A National Championship titles will also be on display for fans to take pictures with. Free tickets must be reserved prior to admission.
Durham Community Day – Sunday, 10am-5pm – Enjoy a free visit to the Museum of Life and Science with proof of Durham County residence. Adults can bring up to five children with them to explore wildlife exhibits, experience the sound garden, explore the Magic Wings Butterfly House and more.
Winter Seafood Jubilee – Sunday, 1-5pm – Join Locals Seafood at Durham Central Park for this celebration of North Carolina seafood. Attend a fish-cutting demonstration with Locals’ chef Scott Perry at 2pm and 4pm, order Locals special jubilee menu items including raw and roasted oysters, catfish po’boys, waffle fries and sweet tea, plus enjoy brews from The Glass Jug Beer Lab; mixed drinks, wine and beer from the Durham Food Hall; live music provided by DJ Tuttle Recall; and more!
Mars: The Ultimate Voyage
The Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is releasing a new show in collaboration with NASA and the Bell Museum. The film will explore Mars and the voyage astronauts have made in pursuing more information on the red planet. Catch the show Friday, Saturday or Sunday at 3 p.m.
Food Truck Saturdays
Starting this weekend, the Piedmont Feed and Garden Center will be hosting their Food Truck Saturdays. Running until May, the center will have food trucks raining from Italian to Southern cuisine. The event runs all day and attendees can also shop for their feed and garden needs.
