2022-2023 Retro Double Features – Friday, 7pm – The Carolina Theatre hosts screenings of “McCabe and Mrs. Miller” and “The Long Riders” during this series that brings classic films to the big screen, alongside vintage movie trailers and door prize giveaways.


Sunset Paddle Guided Trip
 – Friday, 7:30-9:30pm – Enjoy the sunset, sights and sounds on the water with Frog Hollow Outdoors during this relaxing after-dark paddling trip. Beginners welcome! Kids ages 13 and under must be accompanied by, and in a canoe with an adult.

Walk for the Animals 2023 – Saturday, 10am – Bring your furry, four-legged friends to Duke University’s East Campus lawn for a 1.5-mile walk to benefit the Animal Protection Society of Durham, which cares for nearly 4,000 homeless and neglected pets annually. Enter your pooch in contests; watch agility demonstrations; visit dozens of vendors, from doggy day cares to vets and other animal-supportive businesses; meet adoptable dogs; and more. Last year’s walk raised more than $105,000 – a number APS aims to surpass this year.

Taste of Soul NC: Variety Edition – Saturday – Head to Durham Central Park for the ultimate cook-out! Grab some grub from on-site food trucks, shop local merchants, enjoy kids’ games including a bouncy house and jam out to live music. Vendors Jay’s Italian Ice and Tropical Delights Smoothies provide cool, tasty treats to help you beat the heat.

Drop A Line: Cane Pole Fishing – Sunday, 10am-noon – Spend a morning learning how to fish the old-fashioned way at West Point on the Eno. Join Durham Parks and Recreation to participate in the centuries-old tradition of cane pole fishing at the mill pond. This event is open to guests ages 5 and older, no pre-registration required.

First Flush Tea Harvest   – Join Camellia Forest Tea Gardens to explore the gardens and taste the homegrown and homemade First Flush tea, made with the first harvested tea leaves of the season. Garden tours will be offered at 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., and guests are asked to RSVP for a tour. The gardens will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
